New Business Tools from Instagram

Instagram-v051916At long last and after a lot of speculation Instagram have officially announced their set of business tools. They have interviewed hundreds of businesses to find out what they really want from them and they have listened. Here is a rundown of the three new tools coming to an Instagram app near you!

Business Profiles

You can turn your current Instagram profile into a business account. This option isn’t available to everyone though. You will need to have a Facebook business account to ensure you can enable it. They are doing this so they can automatically get your payment details and business info (address, telephone number, website etc.) and auto update your Instagram account.

If you haven’t got a Facebook business page we suggest setting one up asap.  Also, while you are at it, you might want to get your new Facebook page verified. Check out our blog HERE which details how to add the little grey tick.

Once your Instagram profile is recognised as a business account you will be able to change a few things so it’s easier for people to get in touch with you. With just a tap of the button someone will be able to call, text or email you. They will also be able to get directions to your company too.

After your account has be recognised as a business account you will have access to your own Instagram analytics. Here you will be able to see information about who is following you and which posts are resonating best.  Knowing more about your audience will help you create better content.


You can already run ads on Instagram but now it will be even easier.  You will be able to do it directly from the app.  All you need to do is find a post on your Instagram account (choose one that is already doing well) and add a button to encourage people to take action. You will be able to pick a target audience or let Instagram suggest it for you. Once that has been done your advert will be promoted for as long as you want. Simple!

The update is currently being rolled out. So far the US, New Zealand, and Australia have the ability to use the new tools with further countries being added to the list over the coming months. Everyone should have full access by the end of the year.

This is a great start from Instagram. Hopefully they will continue to improve and develop new tools for business owners for the future.
